What Ehfina does inside ChatGPT

When you connect Ehfina to ChatGPT, your assistant gains access to your personal taste profile. This means it can:

  • Suggest restaurants and dishes based on what you actually like
  • Record dining experiences and preferences you share
  • Build an increasingly accurate picture of your tastes over time
  • Factor in preferences from your sharing groups when relevant

Ehfina does not access your ChatGPT conversation history. Only the specific data exchanged through individual tool calls is transmitted to Ehfina.

What users authorize

When you connect Ehfina, you grant ChatGPT permission to:

  • Read your Ehfina taste profile
  • Record new experiences and preferences on your behalf
  • Search restaurant data
  • Access sharing group information you've authorized

You can revoke this access at any time. See data controls for instructions.

What information Ehfina receives

When ChatGPT calls an Ehfina tool, only the specific data needed for that call is transmitted. This typically includes:

  • Your preference statements and taste profile (when retrieving recommendations)
  • Dining experience details (when recording experiences)
  • Restaurant search queries

Ehfina does not receive your full ChatGPT conversation, unrelated chat messages, or any data you haven't explicitly shared through a tool call.

How to connect (Beta)

Ehfina for ChatGPT is in closed beta. Use the manual connector setup:

  1. Open ChatGPT and navigate to Settings > Connectors (or search for "Connectors" in the sidebar)
  2. Select "Add custom connector" or "Custom MCP"
  3. Enter the Ehfina endpoint: https://api.ehfina.com/mcp
  4. Name the connector (e.g., "Ehfina")
  5. Save the connector configuration
  6. Start a new conversation and try: "What should I order here?"
  7. You'll be prompted to authorize — follow the OAuth flow to sign in with your Ehfina account

How to disconnect

  1. Open ChatGPT settings
  2. Navigate to connectors or connected apps
  3. Find Ehfina and disconnect

Disconnecting stops future tool calls but does not delete your Ehfina data.

Known behavior

  • ChatGPT may occasionally not call Ehfina tools even when they would be helpful — try rephrasing your request
  • After tool list changes, you may need to start a new conversation for ChatGPT to pick up new tools
  • Some ChatGPT plans may limit the number of tool calls per conversation

Troubleshooting

  • Connector not appearing: Ensure you're using ChatGPT with connectors support (Plus, Team, or Enterprise plans)
  • Authorization expired: Disconnect and reconnect the connector, then re-authorize
  • Tools not responding: Try starting a new conversation
